Why donate to the Elimination of Leukaemia Fund?

Donations are absolutely vital to our work. Your donation will enable us to fund the most innovative research and ensure we can provide the best support and information for patients and their families. We rely entirely on fundraising activities and voluntary donations, so any contribution you can make is invaluable and really appreciated.

You’ll find details of the main ways to make a donation on this page, along with links to any forms you may need to download and the relevant addresses.

How are your donations used?

As a leading blood cancer charity concentrating on patient centred work, we support projects that have an immediate or near future benefit to patients and the treatment and cure of leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and other lymphomas, myeloma, and myelodysplasia.

  • Our Research: ELF is currently funding several different research projects which are looking at improving treatment options and developing easier ways to diagnose the disease.
  • Our Mind and Body projects: Getting through blood cancer is a tough emotional rollercoaster, both for the patient and for their family and friends.  We believe that getting the right care and support, helps strengthen resilience and ability to cope .  We aim to fund specialist staff posts around the country to help people get better sooner.
  • Our Patient Support Grants: Some patients, who experience real financial hardship as a result of contracting leukaemia, may qualify for a patient support grant. Applications must be supported by the consultant or specialist nurse treating the patient.

When donating, please do include as much detail as possible as to the reason for your donation, if you held a fundraising event etc. please tell us about it. If you are donating online, please do email those details to us at Thank you!

Ways to donate?

Gift Donation

You may donate online using a debit or credit card:

Make a donation using Virgin Money Giving

Or send a cheque, CAF cheque or Postal Order (payable to ELF) to:

Elimination of Leukaemia Fund

32-36 Loman Street

London, SE1 0EH

If you are a UK taxpayer you can make your donation go further by downloading the Gift Aid Form and sending it with your donation.

(Why is Gift Aid so important for charities? The government’s Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Charities can reclaim basic rate tax – ie money you have already paid – from the taxman. This means that if you give £10 and authorise Gift Aid to be reclaimed, it’s worth £12.50 to us.)

Thank you. Your donation will make a real difference.

Monthly donations

If you would like to make a regular donation to ELF, you can do so via Virgin Money Giving. The amount you give is entirely up to you, and payments are automatically transferred from your bank or building society on a regular basis on the date of your choice.

Payroll giving

If you’re interested in making a regular donation without going through Virgin Money Giving, many companies operate a payroll giving scheme.

Donations are taken from your pay before tax and passed on to a charity of your choice. The maximum you can give in one year is £900.

Please check with your employer for to see whether they have a scheme to offer. And if they don’t have one, why not suggest they start one? Contact us and we’ll help you to set one up.

In Memoriam Donations & Legacies

If you would like to donate in memory of a loved one, you can make a collection or ask people to give in lieu of flowers – ask your funeral director or solicitor to help.

Please also consider leaving ELF a legacy in your will. Gifts to UK registered charities are exempt from UK inheritance tax, and is the best way to ensure that our great work can continue, and last beyond your own lifetime or that of a loved one.

It sounds like a big and complicated thing to do, but we work with an organisation called Remember a Charity who make the process less daunting.  You don’t have to have a large amount to give, to make a real difference.

You can visit the Remember A Charity website to find out how to leave a gift to charity when making a Will:
