Post Transplant Clinical Nurse Specialist
King’s College Hospital
The Bone Marrow Transplant Service at King’s College Hospital has focused on developing the autologous, allogeneic, unrelated and now cord stem Bone Marrow Transplants. They have developed significant research facilities associated with this programme and have improved the clinical service by having considerable support prior to and during transplant, but there is no coordinated approach to support post transplant. It is now appropriate for a formal post-transplant clinic which would be jointly led by a doctor and a nurse specialist. This would provide the full spectrum of pre-transplant, peri-transplant and post transplant care which these patients need.
